Her name is Roxanna, but her friends call her Roxie.

She is often seen rolling her signature Prada carry-on through airports, both domestic and international, en route to glamorize bold-face names such as Angela Bassett, Whitney Houston, or Mary J. Blige; and to fulfill her commitment as the Creative Consultant for CoverGirl's Queen Collection.

The Desire: It started at the beauty counters of high-end department stores, and led to the pursuit of a degree in Cosmetic Marketing.

The Sideswipe: Before she could complete her course registration Jon Roberts tapped her to design a line of cosmetics for his family-owned company.

The Fashion Diva: At the renowned Elite Model Agency, Roxanna worked with models at the top of their roster. For her first Essence cover she glammed Halle Berry and started what would become a legacy of 60 covers for the premiere national publication for African-American women.

The Video Vixen: With director Zbignew Rybinchenski Roxanna entered a new art form, and together they created visual stimulation for more than two dozen videos in the pop, R&B and rock genres.

The Expert: When the country went high tech, so did Roxie as the African-American beauty expert of choice for Sierra Home's interactive CD-ROM, iStyle Personal Makeover, and the online beauty sites Women's Wire,, and

Roxie was the first makeup artist to be featured on the contributor's page of Essence, and the first to participate on their Annual Beauty Awards panel of experts. She has served as a columnist for Braids & Beauty, a guest editor for Girl, and a contributing writer to Demetrios for the Bride. She has been quoted extensively and her beauty tips have been relayed in a diverse collection of magazines from InStyle to Essence, Redbook to Today's Black Woman, and Latina to First.

In Puerto Rico, Senegal, Benin, Togo, Nigeria, the Ivory Coast and Paris, Roxie produced and provided creative direction for Revlon Professional Products International hair shows, brochures and posters.

Back home she was selected as a member of the Avon Beauty Council and the Mary Kay International Beauty Team, and served as a Research & Development consultant to Proctor & Gamble.

The Choice: Oscar-nominated actor, Angela Bassett, hand-picked Roxanna for the motion Picture "Waiting To Exhale" Grammy Award-winning vocalist, Whitney Houston chose her for "The Preacher's Wife." Then came The Queen Latifah Show, Alfre Woodard, Regina King, Lynn Whitfield and Lela Rochon, three films and a stage performance with Angela Bassett, international travel, videos, television, print and a television movie with Whitney Houston; five films, live performances and advertising campaigns with Queen Latifah; and Oprah's Legend's Ball, where Roxanna was chosen to beautify Tina Turner, Angela Bassett and Terry McMillan.

The Victory: Roxanna is more than beautiful women behind a makeup counter. She is the beautiful woman behind the makeup!
